Sofi Arrived!

Sofi Adele Hope Johnston

January 12 2011

8.8 oz 21 inches

I can not believe that our sweet baby girl is almost a week old! I can not even imagine life without her.

She is an adorable, perfect little munchkin, and has absolutely stolen my heart.

Here are a few things that have changed at the Johnston home this week:

1: Little socks and hats are sprouting up everywhere

2:Pink is a color we see everyday

3: Words like "poopy" sneaked into our vocabulary

4: It takes over an hour to get of the house to run an errand

5: The joy our baby has given us is indescribable

Girl or Boy?

Tomorrow we go to the Dr. to find out whether or not the baby is a boy or a girl. I am so excited! Most of the people at Shannon's work think it's going to be a boy. People I talk to are mixed, most of them saying it's a girl because I am a guy. I am SO stoked to see the baby on the ultrasound and all the excitement to come with it. Then we are going shopping, to buy CLOTHES! I think this is one of the things I have been MOST excited to do for the last few weeks. When I go to Old Navy, I spend time looking at the clothes, babies have SUCH cooler clothing than adults do, and with it being so tiny it makes it SO cute!!! I can't wait to dress up my little child in awesome cool clothing. I think that the clothing people put on their kids is like an extension of their wardrobe. The boys clothing that I looked at all looked like something I would wear if I was that size. That was what I liked, so I think it's just a natural thing to want to dress your child in.

In other non-baby news, we re-did our living room a little bit. Bought an AWESOME new rug, a new shelf, and re-arranged the furniture. It's so cool looking, and we are very excited for the new setup. It just created a more open and inviting space. We like that, and we really want our house to be a place people feel welcome. We also moved out all the Wii and Xbox controllers, so it looks less dorm-room-ish. All in all, a successful trip to Target and a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon TOTALLY re-invented our living room/dining room. If you are reading this, you now HAVE to come hang out in our "new look" living room!

The First Johnston Blog

So Shannon and I are going to start a family blog. Actually, it was Shannon's idea. She said we should fart...then clarified she meant to say we should start a family blog. I think it will be a fun venture, and I am excited to have a second blog. For those not familiar (which is probably none of the readers because readers will probably be family) we are expecting our first child in January, and in 10 days (wow it's so soon!) we find out whether it's a boy or a girl! I am SO excited, and glad that we could schedule it on a Wednesday. This journey has been so exciting, but it's taking way too long! I want to meet my child right now!

Now, to change the subject before I get too excited, I am watching Waiting for Guffman. Mockumentaries (especially the ones by Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy and crew) are AWESOME! They are hilarious and so brilliant. I don't believe anyone could not like these movies. The (over) acting is hilarious, and how well they do and over-stereotyping of these different types of communities are so funny. I love love love them. Ok, now that I am done rambling for a second, it's showtime on Waiting for Guffman. It's no Best in Show or A Mighty Wind, but funny nonetheless.
